A Day in the Life in the Lab-Entry 4

Lab3 Marketing Intern

I’ve been interning at Lab3 Marketing for 8 weeks now and can honestly say that I’ve learned a lot of tricks of the trade.  I’ve learned things like what websites are good for finding articles that will contain a lot of content.  I’ve learned how to schedule a whole month or more of Facebook posts.  Pinned, I have a new found love for Pinterest; it’s very addicting.  Research, I’ve done tons and tons of research.  Now, most people would be like, ughhhhh research.  It brings you back to college and sitting on the quiet floor of the library dreading that 15-page paper that you have due in 8 hours and you’ve written one page…yeah, we’ve all been there.  But the research that I do here is fun and entertaining and I’ve learned a lot about things that I never would find myself ever randomly searching.  Things about real estate, air conditioners, home equity, and teeth…yeah teeth.  I learned about neat new things like Go To Meeting, which is a way you can have meetings through the phone but you can see the screen of the person you’re speaking so they can show you what they are working on.  There was so much about the business world that I didn’t know about and how much goes into everything; its crazy and I like it.  The newest thing I have learned and now my most favorite social media dashboard is HootSuite.  It just makes you want to say Hoooot Hoooot every time you open it.  This website is the God of the social media world.  It makes managing and organizing different clients’ social media pages a whole lot more efficient than, dare I say… “the old fashion way”.

In other news there is NEVER a dull day in the office; I’m not really sure if that’s news to anyone (I know, I sound like a broken record).  Lisa loves given everyone nicknames; I think you end up getting a new one every day.  My newest one is the Traveling Marketer; that’s because throughout the day you will find me working in every room in the office, including the couch in the entry way.  I know, I’m weird, but I like to switch it up.  Gives me a new perspective…before I get too philosophical…”SQUIRREL” lets bring it back to the point (to get that reference you’ll have to read A Day in the Life-Entry 3).  Loran, has been great; she teaches me a lot about the behind the scene things and how to deal with certain situations.  One thing that I’ve loved about her advice is that I know she is telling me the truth about the crazy, crazy business world; she hasn’t sugar coated anything.  Which is good…a little scary, but good.  One fun detail about the office is that they way it is set up sound travels great.  We always send e-mails back and forth to each other when we find something funny on the Internet.  It’s funny because you send the e-mail and you just wait until you hear the person start laughing.  You can usually hear Loran’s laugh the best followed by her typing her response in-between her distinctive giggles.  Both Corina and Lisa usually will come find you and tell some story that relates to the e-mail.  It also makes for a good little break in your work.

My last day of interning is tomorrow and it will also be my last blog post.  It’s going to be a good one!  You all just wait for it.

But until then, enjoy this Monday picture.
