Hello everybody! It’s Preston the Intern reporting from the Lab again. Another few weeks have flown by and my time here will be up before I know it.
Until then, I will continue to soak up as much information as I can.
There truly is a science to marketing that I am exposed to while I intern here, and I’m trying to pick up on all of the right formulas to take away from my time at the Lab.
One thing I have learned is the importance of being able to multi-task and not compromise the quality of my work at the same time. It’s nice to be fast, but it’s better to go at a controlled speed that will ensure the work I am putting in is at my personal best.
This way I can see what I did wrong and learn from it. A careless mistake is something you don’t have to learn from because you already know what you did wrong.
I have also learned that it’s important to know a little bit of everything that is going on at the office and in the digital world. It’s easier to get work done when you already have an idea of how and why things get done a certain way.
Knowing how to use social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram has been my biggest learning stick. Even if you don’t like to use them all the time, it’s important to know how to market on each of those sites.
I also wanted to give a shout out to my mentors: Lisa, Rochelle, David, Carlisle (and Gus too of course). Thanks for showing me the way, being patient with me and putting up with me at the same time. I am learning stuff at the Lab that cannot be taught in a classroom.
Until next time,
Preston the Intern
